Academics

Bangkok Christian International School caters to the needs of the Christian missionary community. We serve students in grades K-12, offering an integrated Christian-centered education based on the American curriculum. We are accredited by the Ministry of Education (MOE), Thailand, the AdvancED Accreditation (AdvancED), and North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI), USA.

We are affiliated with the Korean Federation of Christian Schools (KFCS) and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). We are also a member of International School Association of Thailand (ISAT) and Thailand International School Activity Conference (TISAC).

Curriculum

BCIS offers an American-style, college-preparatory curriculum using textbooks from publishing companies Glencoe/ McGraw-Hill, Pearson/Prentice Hall, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and SRA/ABEKA. Both LA and Math are now built and based upon the Common Core State Standards. The CCSS will be used in these two subjects so as to ensure vertical and horizontal alignment throughout the school curriculum in those two subjects. Science has adopted the NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) for grades 1 to 5 and other grades will soon follow as soon as textbooks are available that are aligned to these latest standards. All classes, except foreign languages, are taught in English. The school provides English as a Foreign Language Program (EFL) and Special Needs Support Services as needed.

Co-Curricular Activities

BCIS offers a wide range of activities to develop student interests and abilities. Students interested in music have the opportunity to participate in band, choir, ensembles, and individual instrument and voice lessons. Students interested in athletics may participate in clubs, intramurals or interscholastic sports through Thailand International Schools Activities Conference such as badminton, football, basketball, track and field, volleyball, table tennis, etc. Special interest clubs meet twice a week and may include art, badminton, computer, arts and crafts, performing arts, Bible Study, Worship Club and vocal ensemble just to name a few. BCIS has a very active student government through Student Council as well as many community service/outreach and ministry opportunities.

BCIS has thoroughly enjoyed being an active member of the TISAC organization better known as Thailand International Schools Activities Conference. Students have had the tremendous privilege of meeting and becoming friends with other young people from many different cultural and ethnic backgrounds studying in many other international schools through the variety of TISAC activities and sporting programs that take place throughout the year. Various BCIS basketball and football teams were league and tournament champions in 2014-2015 including the Under 13 Girls’ Basketball Team, Under 15 Girls’ Basketball Team, and the Senior Boys’ Basketball Team. We continue to perform very well in this conference.
